The Hubbards Barn is located at 57 Highway 3 in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. The barn itself is used for the Hubbards Farmers’ market on Saturdays from May to October, and is available to rent for special events. Our beautiful property provides our community with a green space and public facilities.
TRAIL UPDATE
In 2019, the pedestrian walking trail connecting Highway 3 to the property was destroyed by
Hurricane Dorian.
The construction of a new pedestrian trail will begin in September 2022
making the Hubbards Barn more accessible and safer for all visitors. The project is large in
scale, installing an accessible pedestrian pathway with new signage and widening portions of
the current driveway, while preserving and rehabilitating as much greenery as possible.
The scope of the project includes:
● Rebuild a pedestrian trail from the main entrance on Highway 3 to the Barn.
● An accessible trailhead and trail that is tied into the sidewalks adjacent to Highway 3
● Install a permanent solution that ensures stormwater will no longer threaten to wash out
the trail during more intense weather events.
● Install accessible signage along the newly constructed path.
● Landscaping to create any necessary traffic-pedestrian separation.
The Hubbards Barn is a central hub to the Hubbards and surrounding communities. For this
project the Hubbards Barn Association is working in collaboration with the Hubbards
Streetscape Project and has received support from the Aspotogan Heritage Trust, the Hubbards
Heritage Society, the Municipality of Chester, the Halifax Regional Municipality, and the
Province of Nova Scotia. The work will be performed by local contractors, Moving Your Earth
Construction, and Propour Concrete.
This project is possible through funding from the Municipality of the District of Chester and the
Province of Nova Scotia. We are pleased to work in partnership with the Department of
Communities, Culture, Heritage and Tourism to develop and promote our cultural resources for
all Nova Scotians.
Renovating and revitalizing the trail for visitors to the Hubbards Barn will ensure this space
continues to be a central place for gathering, celebrating, and supporting local small
businesses, while fostering a strong and vibrant sense of community.
The trail is to be located at the Hubbards Barn & Community Park, #57 Hwy 3 Hubbards.

Our grounds have a lot to offer anyone looking for some time in nature, thanks to our team of gardening volunteers.
We are delighted to have this new space, the Lin Cahill Pavilion, at the Hubbards Barn. We hope that our community enjoys and uses this space. We are happy to be able to accommodate use (free of charge) of the Pavilion for families, not for profit organisations or other community groups. By making an inquiry about the use of the Pavilion you will be deemed to have accepted our terms of use.
The Barn is a public community park, and you are welcome to visit the grounds at any time. The Barn and its property are available for weddings, art shows, auctions, barn dances, fitness classes, family reunions, craft workshops and much more. It’s a great venue for casual, summertime attractions!
